Drum Roll Please…

Hello Lower 9th Ward Village Family!

We want to thank all those who were able to support or come out to our Save the Village benefit at Howlin’ Wolf Den. We all had such a great time and It was a huge success. We raised $1200 just over one night. We couldn’t do that without so many loyal and generous supporters!

We want to thank all of the volunteers who helped to make sure that the tables were set up, the tickets were sold, the food was served, and the artists were prepared. As well as big thank yous to our food and art contributors recognized below.

Thank you to these restaurants for donating: Reginelli’s, District Donuts, VEGGI farmer’s cooperative, Martinique Bistro, Sneaky Pickle, Sylvain, Julie’s Kitchen, Seed, & Red Beans and Rice from Tish Youngblood.

Thank you to the following artists for performing at the event: Treme Brass Band, Miki Fujii, Adamdabeginning, Jessica “I am Air”, Travis Tran, Tony Wilson, Charmaine Neville, Buku Dance Krewe, Mic Ventress, Phat Word, Truth Universal, Post Inc, MEANGENE, and Guitar Lightning Lee.

Also, a big thank you to Mark and Kim Ford Photography (photo above) and Kyle Encar Photography for documenting our event!

As you may know, our Kickstarter Fundraiser campaign ended on Tuesday, May 27th at 10am. We raised almost $25,000, but unfortunately we did not reach our goal of $75,000. Thus, all of the donations will go back to those who donated, which is a part of how Kickstarter’s crowdfunding organization works. We are reaching out to those donors and asking them to consider donating to us here.

We are so thankful for all the energy and supporters during this time. We will keep you updated as we determine what our next steps are for the Village’s tangible space. We at the Village are pushing full force with our lot cutting job development program, food justice programming, and developing a blueprint on how to change the way we embrace disaster. Stay tuned for more updates about our summer plans from the Village.

Thank you again for your support, love and energy,
Mack and the Lower 9th Ward Village Team
