Lower 9th Ward Village’s Benefit Concert a Success
The Lower 9th Ward Village’s Benefit Concert held on October 29th at the Howlin’ Wolf was a complete success despite the murder of Charmaine Neville’s son just hours before. “The show went on without a hitch and Charmaine Neville delivered a courageous performance, at her insistence“, according to the Village Special Events Coordinator Sakura Koné. In the spirit of her performace, the Village believes that people must rise above and face the terrible circumstances to make beautiful music. The Village still needs to reach their funding goal of $100,000. There were many who wanted to attend but could not make it.
